Tai viešoji įstaiga, kurią įsteigė Lietuvos Respublikos finansų ministerija. Centrinės projektų valdymo agentūros misija yra administruoti ir įgyvendinti valstybės, savivaldybių bei kitų subjektų programas ir projektus, finansuojamus iš Europos Sąjungos, tarptautinių finansinių organizacijų, valstybės, savivaldybių, agentūros ir kitokių lėšų.
