Contribution of Corporate Social Responsibility to Building a Sustainable Energy Sector
Project Themes
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the voluntary integration of environmental and social considerations into business operations. It is a continuation to the global Rio process and a serious effort to promote sustainable development.
CSR is one means amongst many for achieving economic, social and environmental progress and for integrating these concerns into business practise. It is a concept for business in the implementation of sustainable development. Generally, the issues in the CSR concept are profitability of business, healthy and satisfied employees, better state of the environment, good stakeholder relationships and public-private cooperation.
The ESCOBALT project aims at adopting common strategies and action plans based on the Corporate Social Responsibility Concept (CSRC) and to promote rational use of energy as a base of CSRC. This will happen through the development of a cooperation of the partners and projects, building of networks, spreading information and discussing the problems and opportunities behind the energy sector and CSR.
ESCOBALT is financed by the Interreg III B – program of the EU and it has partners from several Baltic Sea Region countries - from Finland, Sweden, the Baltic states, Germany and Poland. The Lead partner of the project is the Regional Council of Uusimaa, Finland. Go to the materials.
